I guess I operate my email like many other would be ‘Make money onliners’. I use Thunderbird as my email client. It’s very functional, easy to learn, from the Mozilla family and best of all it’s a free product. I like to keep in touch with the MMO market and am subscribed to rather too many lists. It seems that with the current trend safe swaps are used every which means that many days you get offered freebies by super copywriters. The upshot is that I have way too many emails to deal with on a daily basis and that’s after getting rid of the rubbish that is simply the same freebie repackaged.
I have recently invested in a great email filtering tool. It puts stuff in a later folder so I can prioritise and know that the ‘later folder’ can be dealt with in a speedier manner because I have set it as a lower priority. The system also has reminder facilities that allows you to schedule when a mail should re-appear or when to chase someone from whom a reply has yet to be received. I was recently enticed to sign up with Reed Floren because of a freebie. Unfortunately I cannot remember which one. Perhaps that tells you something; either how memorable the item was or perhaps how much of a bright shiny object collector I am.
In the period from 31/08/12 20:57 to 02/09/12 09:44 my inbox was hammered with 65 emails from Reed Floren many of which were duplicated.
The point of this post is to make plain my disappointment in Reed Floren’s systems or attention to detail. I expected more from one of the big names in the industry. I only signed up once and yet the single email captured above was received 7 times. Perhaps this was a one off glitch. Please let me know if you have the same issue or am I just lucky?
Needless to say I have unsubscribed.
